News for October 2005
Our annual Fayre on August Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, on Mowbray Green, was a great success. We are grateful to Dorothy Blackburn, the Mayor, who agreed to open the event for us, and to all of you who came along to support. The following Saturday we went to Bourne End, Cranfield, for another of our popular “Picnic Praise” concerts. This was the third concert in that Series, and was arranged to celebrate the Golden Wedding of our hosts, Frank and Rebecca Cook. All proceeds were donated to charities helping street children in the Third World. We were pleased to be able to help again. Now, following a damp (but enjoyable) afternoon with our Training Band at St Mary’s Roman Catholic church, very close to our Bandroom, we are finalising the all-new programme for the next in our Drakeloe Press Series, at the Stables theatre, on Sunday 2nd October. Tickets are £10 (sorry, no concessions), from 01908 377325 or 01908 280800 (card payments). Some seats are still available in most areas of the theatre, but please do book early if you would like to come along. The programme should have something for everyone, and will feature soloists from within the Band.
